Is Jeremy Bamber innocent?

Posted On 21:33 0 comments

Jeremy BamberIs Jeremy Bamber innocent? | UK news | The Guardian: "Jeremy Bamber is thinking about how he has maintained his sanity over 25 years in prison. His answer is quietly shocking. He walks and talks with his family – his mother, his sister, her twin sons and particularly his father. In short, he gets solace from the memory of the very family he was convicted of slaying 26 years ago. 'In my mind, I walk with my Dad more than anybody on a daily basis and think, how would he cope with it, what would he think about it all?' He comes to a stuttering stop. You can hear the pain in his voice. 'How I cope is quite an emotional thing for me to talk about.'"

Green River, Running Red: The Real Story of the Green River Killer--America's Deadliest Serial MurdererThe Green River killer -- believed to be the United States' most prolific serial killer -- is now facing charges in a 49th murder. The remains of Becky Marrero were found by some teenagers in December. Gary Ridgway had already confessed to killing Marrero a few years ago, but authorities didn't charge him then because he couldn't provide enough information to support a charge.

He can't be put to death in this case, thanks to a plea deal that gave him life in exchange for information about his victims. But if he's ever convicted of a killing outside King County, Wash., that deal wouldn't be in play."

Serial Killers: Real Life Hannibal LectersCTV British Columbia - Police pursue Vancouver's other serial killer - CTV News: "At the same time convicted serial killer Robert Pickton was prowling Vancouver's downtown eastside for victims, another man was doing the same.

While Pickton brought sex trade workers in his truck to his Coquitlam farm, this other killer dumped women's bodies up logging roads in the Fraser Valley.

And while Pickton sits in a federal prison, this other killer roams free.

Police say it's time he was caught.

'We will absolutely not give up,' said Staff Sergeant John Cater of the E Division Missing Women Task Force. 'These women did not deserve to meet the demise in the way they did.'

The bodies of Victoria Younker, Tammy Lee Pipe, and Tracy Olajide were all found in mountains near Mission in the Fraser Valley in 1995. At the time, police noticed similarities in the cases and believed they had a serial killer on their hands.

'I think when I saw the second crime scene, that was the indication that something was going on,' said Sgt. Paul McCarl, who was the file manager in the early days and now works for RCMP Unsolved Homicide."

The Somali PirateAFP: India warns Somali pirates now threaten its coast: "India on Thursday warned of an increased threat to shipping off its southwest coast, as Somali pirates hunt targets beyond African waters to evade the clutches of an international naval force.
Coastguard Inspector General S.P.S. Basra said there had been a rise in pirate attacks on merchant vessels within 250-300 nautical miles of India recently and shipping had been warned to steer clear of danger areas.
He was speaking as the authorities paraded 28 suspected pirates who were caught last Sunday after allegedly trying to attack a Greek-flagged cargo ship.
The men -- sitting on the deck of a coastguard ship moored off the coast of Mumbai with their hands and feet shackled and muslin cloths covering their heads and faces -- now face police questioning in the city.
The attack was the second in as many weeks and comes amid lingering shipping industry concern and as the UN's International Maritime Organisation (IMO) seeks a more urgent co-ordinated response to tackle the problem.
On January 28, 15 suspected pirates were detained after a firefight with the Indian coastguard and navy in the same area near the Lakshadweep Islands off the coast of Kerala state."

Police say DNA evidence connects 44-year-old Chester Turner to the 1997 slaying of 30-year-old Cynthia Annette Johnson. An LAPD criminologist inadvertently included evidence from that case for testing last year, when the department was trying to reduce the backlog of untested sexual assault kits.

The remaining three murder counts come from cases in which Turner was long suspected, but never charged, including the murders of 41-year-old Mary Edwards and 32-year-old Debra Williams.

In those two cases, another man was wrongfully convicted and imprisoned until 2004, when the DNA match to Turner was made.

Police say all four victims were strangled."
