Bomb disposal experts were working to make the massive 500 pound bomb safe after it was discovered Jan. 27 on the site of a former car factory, news website 20minutes reported.

Residents living within 400 meters (1,300 feet) of the device left their homes from 8:00am local time, with work due to start at 11:00am local time and set to last two hours.

The bomb was first discovered on a building site where a Renault car factory used to be.

The factory was bombed repeatedly in 1942 and 1943 by Allied aircraft, as the site was producing car engines under control of the occupying Germans."
