CBC News - British Columbia - B.C. killer awaits sentencing: "sentencing hearing is underway for an Aldergrove man convicted of killing two sex trade workers.
Davey Mateo Butorac, 31, was found guilty of second-degree murder in July 2010 in the deaths of the two women. The conviction carries an automatic life sentence.
Crown counsel is asking that Butorac be ineligible for parole for 25 years.
He was described by the Crown as being among the worst group of offenders. Case law from the trials of serial killers Robert Pickton and Clifford Olsen were cited to support Crown's argument.
Butorac's lawyer was expected to make submissions Thursday afternoon.
Butorac killed Sheryl Lynn Koroll, 50, and Gwendolyn Jo Lawton, 46.
Lawton's body was discovered in March 2007 at the side of a gravel road in the Pemberton Hill area of northwest Abbotsford. Koroll's body was discovered in an industrial area of Langley in July 2007."
